Strategic Training Roadmap

What is our approach?
The first step in the strategy analysis and curriculum design process is to create a working team that is responsible for development of this strategy.

Key members

The members of this team should include:
Key members of the HR Management Team
A member(s) from Marketing, Sales, Production
A Senior Consultant from ePath Learning

Project kick-off
Early in the project we typically conduct kick-off meetings with key stakeholders, the project team and the people we will interview. While ePath Learning will do the heavy lifting and design the interview questions, we require that a company team member participate in the interview process. This collaboration will ensure that the company maintains close ties to the source information and will provide ePath Learning an appropriate corporate perspective on the interview information.

The data gathering stage
The data gathering will be conducted by interviewing personnel in the company’s business units. This effort will occur over a two- to three-week period that will entail interviewing staff, observing operations/classes and reviewing current training documents.

The analysis evaluates the collected data, examines present training approaches, including what is working and what should be improved, and draws conclusions about the training necessary to support the business objectives and employee development. These conclusions are then documented in the Training Strategy.

The Strategic Training Roadmap also provides a blueprint to create the training and learning necessary to support the business goals of the company and provide employees with growth opportunities. It will answer the following questions:

Who needs to be trained?
ePath Learning will define each group (or audience) that needs training to successfully perform in his/her job.

What does each audience need to be trained on?
This approach includes a definition of the training objectives for each audience and a high-level outline of the content of the training for each audience.

When and where should the training occur?
We will address the appropriate timing and location for the training.

How should they be trained?
There are many options available to support job performance with training/learning. ePath Learning will recommend the delivery method that is most appropriate for the audience, the company’ environment, the time available, the costs and the training objectives.

How will training materials be developed/acquired and implemented?
If it has been determined that an off-the-shelf option will work for you, we will help you purchase the training and/or training platform and a plan will be defined for the acquisition and maintenance of the training. For custom developed training, a plan will be devised that addresses who will provide the subject-matter expertise and who will actually develop the materials and long-term plan for training.

Now we know who needs training and what they need training on. So the next question is – how should that training be delivered? This question has two major components:

Traditional and/or Technology?
Which method or combination of methods will deliver the most effective training and will be most cost-effective for your organization.

Build or Buy?
The analysis centers on whether the training available for purchase will effectively meet your needs as well as what approach is most cost-effective for your company.

ePath Learning's consultants will look at the cost-to-benefit ratio for training courses with multiple potential delivery options. We recognize that there are many factors a company must consider and balance and understand that there must be reasonable long-term return on the investment (ROI) and manageable short-term disruption of staff, processes and/or costs in order for training to be successful. After analyzing what is available for purchase, including costs and effectiveness, we will recommend the delivery approach for all the courses in the curriculum.

Implementation or Next Steps
Now we know who needs training, what they need training on and what type of training it will be - it's time to buy or build the training! We will set priorities, recommend a development process and create an initial plan for implementation.

Remember that ePath Learning, with a mission of providing the best possible customer experience, developed the Strategic Training Roadmap with the objective of looking at your business to determine what is working from what’s not and the steps to take to get back on track. Amazingly, our consultants won't necessarily recommend our suite of products and services to you, unless we feel it's the right fit for your business. It's a truly innovative, unbiased approach, something we do not think you will find anywhere else in the marketplace today.

Our consulting group takes a problem-solving approach to every Strategic Training Roadmap engagement. We believe that our experience coupled with a desire to improve corporate training creates a formidable partnership. Our goal is simple: we care about your success. We will help you get back on track and make sure you are moving in the right direction.
